Tristan Akers

Columbus Ohio Employment Attorney

Tristan Akers was born and grew up in Northwestern Illinois. He graduated in 2019 from the University of Illinois Springfield with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Public Policy. After graduating from UIS, Tristan attended The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and earned his Juris Doctorate in 2022.

Tristan’s legal career has been marked by a number of professional and personal activities and interests. While studying at Moritz he worked as a Research Assistant for two professors researching how the COVID-19 pandemic was affecting litigation in the Sixth Circuit and helping create a state supreme court voter-preference tool for the 2020 elections. During his second year at law school, Tristan served as a Staff Editor on the Ohio State Law Journal. His Student Note, titled At a Crossroads: LGBT Employment Protections and Religious Exemptions after Bostock v. Clayton County, was selected by the Journal for online publication in 2021. During his final year of law school, Tristan served as a Managing Editor on the Journal and helped manage and edit the Journal’s Fall “mini-symposium.”

Tristan also worked for the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services during his final year of law school, helping assist with the large number of unemployment claims in the wake of COVID-19. It was this experience that first sparked his interest in employment law and specifically in helping workers protect their rights in the face of employer misconduct. This passion, combined with the skills he picked up in law school, continues to drive him to fight for workers who have been mistreated by their employer and ensure that they receive top-quality legal representation while vindicating their rights.
